What Is the Google Apprenticeship Program?

Google's Apprenticeship Program is a paid, work-and-study opportunity for people who want to break into tech, marketing, analytics, or project management careers — without necessarily having a traditional corporate resume. Unlike an internship, apprentices work full-time (around 40 hours a week) alongside Google teams, while also going through structured, external training. It is aimed at recent graduates and career switchers alike; prior industry experience is not a requirement for most tracks.

It is not a permanent, full-time job. Programs run 12 to 24 months depending on the track, and apprentices can apply for full-time roles at Google only in the final three months of their program.

Latest Updates

  • Applications open now for the India cohort across all four tracks.
  • Last date to apply: August 3, 2026.
  • Program start: March 2027 (June 2027 for some tracks).
  • No new tracks announced this cycle — Software, Data Analytics, Digital Business Marketing, and Project Management remain.
  • Locations unchanged: Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Mumbai.

Data Analyticsis worth calling out separately: it is the track drawing the most search interest of the four, and it is the most accessible — Google's listing accepts a bachelor's degree in any field. If you are a non-CS graduate wondering whether you qualify, start there.

Dedicated full-depth guides for Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, and Project Management are coming soon — this section stays a summary on purpose so it does not compete with those articles for the same searches.

Google Apprenticeship Locations

All four India tracks are in-office, full-time roles at one of four cities:

  • Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • Gurgaon, Haryana
  • Hyderabad, Telangana
  • Mumbai, Maharashtra

There is no remote option, and location transfers are not permitted once you are onboarded — factor relocation into your decision before applying.

Google Apprenticeship Eligibility

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree completed — you must not be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program (Data Analytics accepts any graduate).
  • Less than 1 year of relevant professional experience in the track you are applying for.
  • Programming experience in at least one language, for the Software track specifically.
  • Aadhaar number linked to an active mobile number, and an Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
  • You must not have completed a prior government apprenticeship program; maximum of two apprenticeship programs in your career, with the second in a different trade.
  • Not eligible for immigration sponsorship — you need to already be authorized to work in India.

Who can apply? Any graduate (not a current student) with under a year of relevant experience, legally able to work in India. Career switchers are explicitly welcome, especially for Data Analytics.

Google Apprenticeship Application Process

Stage 1 — Resume shortlisting

Submit a single-document resume through careers.google.com, clearly stating your graduation year — Google explicitly calls this out in its listings.

Stage 2 — Assessment

Some tracks (notably Software and Data Analytics) include an online assessment testing basic aptitude or technical skills.

Stage 3 — Technical/role interview

Focused on problem-solving and role-relevant basics, not deep specialist knowledge.

Stage 4 — Behavioral interview

Communication, teamwork, and how you handle ambiguity — Google listings repeatedly mention navigating ambiguous tasks as a desired trait.

Stage 5 — Offer

The full process typically spans 18–24 weeks in total, so patience is part of the deal.

Google also runs a separate, smaller apprenticeship track through the Google Operations Center (GOC) in India — a distinct organization from Google itself, focused on customer support and operations roles. Worth checking if the four main tracks do not fit your profile.

Google Apprenticeship Last Date

Act now

Applications for the India cohort close on August 3, 2026.

If you have been searching “Google apprenticeship last date,” apply first through careers.google.com, then use this guide for eligibility and prep details.

The application deadline for the current India cohort is August 3, 2026. The program itself starts in March 2027 (some tracks mention March or June 2027), which is why you will see it referred to as both “2026 applications” and the “2027 cohort” depending on the source.

Google Apprenticeship Salary

Google does not publish an official stipend figure on its listings — exact numbers are typically shared during the offer stage, not in the public job post, partly because pay can vary by track, location, and candidate.

Based on multiple recruiter and past-candidate reports circulating online, monthly pay has been estimated in the range of roughly ₹41,600–₹66,600, sometimes with a relocation allowance — but treat this as indicative only, not confirmed.

Beyond the stipend itself, apprentices get structured external training (Google pays for this), a nationally recognized completion credential, and mentorship from Google teams.

Is Google Apprenticeship paid? Yes — it is a paid work-and-study program, not an unpaid internship.

Resume Tips

Google's own listings are unusually specific about one resume requirement: clearly state your graduation year. Before you apply, run your resume through our ATS Resume Checker.

  • Clearly state your graduation year — Google lists this as an explicit requirement.
  • Keep it to one page — apprenticeship reviewers screen volume, not multi-page resumes.
  • Lead with projects, not just coursework — especially for Software and Data Analytics, a couple of well-described deployed projects with GitHub links carry more weight than a long course list.
  • List relevant certifications (SQL, Google Analytics, project management basics) only if you can speak to them in an interview.
  • If you are a career switcher for Data Analytics or Project Management, use your summary to connect your past field to the new one.

Google Apprenticeship Interview

Google's process for apprenticeships generally includes resume screening, a track-relevant assessment (for example, an aptitude or basic technical round for Software/Data Analytics), and one or more interviews focused on problem-solving, communication, and role-specific basics — not deep specialist knowledge, since the program is explicitly designed to accept people without prior industry experience.

Practice with AI mock interviews and the AI Question Generator before your assessment and interview rounds.

Google Apprenticeship vs Internship

Apprenticeships run longer (12–24 months vs a typical 8–12 week internship), pay a stipend/salary rather than a fixed internship stipend, and are explicitly designed for people who have already finished their degree — not for students still enrolled. Internships, by contrast, usually require current enrollment. For broader internship strategy, see our internship guide.

FAQs

Is the Google Apprenticeship program open now?

Yes, for India — across all four tracks — with an application deadline of August 3, 2026.

Who can apply for Google Apprenticeship?

Graduates who have completed their degree (not currently enrolled), with under a year of relevant experience, legally authorized to work in India.

Can freshers apply?

Yes — the program is designed for recent graduates as much as career switchers; you do not need prior industry experience for most tracks.

Can final-year students apply?

Generally no. Google listings specify applicants should not be currently enrolled in an academic program — you need to have graduated already.

Can non-CS students apply?

Yes, especially for Data Analytics (any bachelor’s degree) and Project Management (any background). Software specifically needs an engineering degree.

Is Google Apprenticeship paid?

Yes. Google does not publish exact numbers, but unofficial estimates put it around ₹41,600–₹66,600 per month in India — confirm the real figure with your recruiter.

Is there any bond or service commitment?

Google public listings do not mention a bond. Standard program terms (like a maximum of two apprenticeships in a career, and not eligible for immigration sponsorship) are disclosed, but a financial bond is not part of the published terms.

Is work-from-home available?

No — all four India tracks are in-office, full-time roles, with no remote option.

Can international students apply to the India program?

The India listings require Aadhaar-linked mobile and bank details, effectively limiting the program to those already eligible to work in India.

Is the completion certificate valid / recognized?

Yes — it is a nationally recognized credential, jointly associated with the Government of India and Google.

Is Google Operations Center (GOC) the same as Google?

No. GOC explicitly states it is a distinct organization from Google, with its own separate apprenticeship program, though also India-based.

Is coding required for all tracks?

No — coding experience is specifically required for the Software Application Development track. Data Analytics, Marketing, and Project Management do not require prior programming experience.

What is the Google Apprenticeship application deadline / last date to apply?

August 3, 2026, for the current India cohort.

Does Google Apprenticeship guarantee a full-time job?

No. It provides real project experience and a path to apply for full-time roles in your final three months, but it is not a guaranteed conversion.
